Easy Baked Oats

If there is one thing we have learned recently, it is that baked oats are never going to get old. This was one of those foods when we were younger that was not too appealing, but we have figured out the trick to make these baked oats so good you will be eating them for every meal. Blending the oats into a flour-like consistency makes this so smooth and creamy that it almost has the texture of a cake. Another added bonus is that this base is so simple and versatile that you can make them any flavor you want! Some of our favorites recently have been lava baked oats with pb & j, chocolate, or even caramel centers. You can also add fresh fruit for a naturally sweet touch . We recommend about 1/4 cup and would say that blueberries and strawberries are our favorites! Once they come out, we love to dollop some maple yogurt on top and even add caramelized bananas for a more decadent touch.

What You’ll Need

  • 1/2 a ripe banana
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons applesauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons oat flour
  • 1 scoop protein powder, our go to is vanilla
  • 3/4 teaspoons baking powder

To Make

Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Then, mash the banana until smooth in a small bowl. You will want to make sure there are no clumps. Add the rest of the wet ingredients and mix until fully incorporated and add the dry ingredients next. Make sure the batter is mixed well. Spray a small, oven safe dish and add your batter. If you want to add a lava filling, pour half of the batter in, add the center, then cover with the rest of the batter. If you are mixing in something like blueberries, you can add them to the batter. Bake for 17 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. You can let it cool for a few minutes, but we usually cannot wait that long to eat them!

Enjoy!
